摘要
《大河两岸》是肯尼亚作家恩古吉·瓦·提安哥的作品,该作品通过肯尼亚青年的成长故事叙述了西方殖民文化与肯尼亚传统文化间难以调和的矛盾。恩古吉小说中的空间叙事对于小说人物性格和命运的书写有着重要作用,同时几个重要的空间意象具有深刻的文化内涵。“大河”指霍尼亚河,隐喻两种文化的“纽带”和“分界”;而“两岸”指代卡梅奴山和马库尤山,它们分别成为了部落传统文化空间与西方殖民文化空间。
The River Between is written by the Kenya writer Ngugi wa Thiong'o.This novel describes the contradiction between the western colonial culture and the Kenya’s culture.The space narrative in this work is important.The main spaces indicate the nature and the destiny of the characters.The“River”is the Hornya Rive which metaphor for“link”and“boundary”of the different cultures.“Between”means there are two mountains between Hornya Rive.And the mountains stand for two different cultures.
