摘要
作为现代艺术运动的开创者和早期社会主义运动的先驱,威廉·莫里斯的“艺术社会主义”思想将艺术审美与文化政治紧密地接合为一体,开创了“政治美学”的崭新路径.作为早期马克思主义艺术理论家,莫里斯的“艺术社会主义”思想具有“重大的创造力”.莫里斯思想在20世纪之初开始传入中国,在从五四新文化运动到左翼文化运动期间形成热潮,后因历史原因渐趋冷却以至于逐渐被人淡忘;进入改革开放新时期以来,莫里斯又再度被人们发现,但关注重点基本上限于艺术设计领域,其“艺术社会主义”思想依然未能得到足够的重视;近年来,伴随政治美学的复兴,莫里斯艺术社会主义思想再度引起人们的关注.然而,如何在新时代语境中重新阐释莫里斯艺术社会主义思想,仍然需要我们在文献译介及理论研究等方面加以持续不断的探索和努力.当前,全面而系统地梳理和探究莫里斯艺术社会主义思想在中国的译介与传播,祛除长期以来对其思想的狭隘化与浅表化理解,以真正激活莫里斯艺术社会主义思想及其阐释当代文化艺术现象与实践的理论活力,已成为马克思主义艺术理论中国化研究的重要组成部分.
William Morris is the pioneer of both the modern art design movement and the early socialist movement.His " art and socialist" thoughts closely integrated artistic aesthetics into cultural politics,creating a new path of " political aesthetics". As an early Marxist art theorist,Morris’ s " artistic socialism" thought has " significant creativity. " Morris thought began to be introduced to China at the beginning of the 20 th century. During the period from the May Fourth New Culture Movement to the Left-wing Cultural Movement,it formed a craze,which gradually cooled down due to historical reasons and gradually became obscured. During the new era of Reform and Opening Up,Morris has been discovered again,but the focus is basically limited to the field of art design. His " artistic socialism" thoughts still fail to receive enough attention. In recent years,with the revival of political aesthetics,Morris’ s Art and Socialist Thoughts have once again attracted people’s attention,how we can sort out and explore comprehensively and systematically the translation and dissemination of Morris’ s art and socialist thoughts in China has become an important part of the study of the sinicization of Marxist art theory. Meanwhile,it is hoped that the narrow and shallow understanding of its ideas since long ago will be eliminated so as to truly activate the theoretical vitality of Morris’ s art and socialist thoughts to interpret contemporary culture and art.
