On July 16, 2019, an exhibitiontitled “Liangzhu and AncientChina—5,000 Years of CivilizationDemonstrated by Jade” opened at thePalace Museum (Forbidden City) inBeijing. The exhibition showcased260 jade artifacts that were excavatedfrom the Archaeological Ruins ofLiangzhu City in Hangzhou, capitalof southeastern China’s ZhejiangProvince, and held by 17 museumsin nine Chinese provinces andmunicipalities. It marked the first timethe cultural relics were displayed afterthe Archaeological Ruins of LiangzhuCity was added to the UNESCO WorldHeritage List at the 43rd session of theUNESCO World Heritage Committee inthe Azerbaijani capital of Baku on July 7,2019.
