Hua Lang was the good-looking men selected from the children in aristocratic families by the ruling class in the Silla era, who were cultivated to become a patriarchal group with loyalty and patriotism. Hua Lang was trained mainly through the cultivation in landscapes and the self-cultivation in tea-drinking activities. After the 6th century, Buddhism was introduced to Silla, and the tea-drinking group originally in Silla only included the ruling class, nobles, monks, and Hua Lang. The remains of Hansong Pavilion in Jiangling, South Korea, are the best reflection of Hualang’s tea drinking life. The spirit of the tea ceremony in the early days of the Silla was similar to Hua Lang’s romantic spirit, which was the basis for the formation of the tea ceremony spirit in the Goryeo and Korean era.
