摘要
菲利浦·拉金是英国运动派诗人领袖,火车是菲利浦·拉金诗歌的重要主题和空间意象。在其代表作《降灵节婚礼》中“火车”体现了拉金对世界的冷眼旁观和自我反思,饱含空间变迁的痛苦和现代城市生活的无奈。在诗歌中,火车作为一种特殊空间,具有非同寻常的意义和叙事功能:其一,火车的行进担当了叙事线索的功能,推动着诗歌的叙事进程;其二,火车车厢被建构成一种“边界空间”,同时又是对各种边界的跨越,如“第三空间”那样永远向各种可能敞开;其三,乘坐火车是一种重要的微观空间实践,既实现了对“全景敞视”的某种逃离(和抵抗),和对空间关系的重组,又揭示了城市空间中的种种问题和存在困境。
The train is the theme and an important spatial image in many of the poems by Philip Larkin, the leading poet of the English Movement. In his representative work The Whitsun Weddings and other poems concerning the train, he expressed his detached point of view and his reflection on this world, his pain as a result of the inability to resist spatial transitions and his unwilling resignation to the modern city life. In these works, the train, a special type of space, has an extraordinary significance and plays irreplaceable roles in narrative: firstly, the progression of the train serves as the clue of narrative;secondly, the carriage is constructed as a border space as well as a means of border-crossing;thirdly, train riding is an essential spatial practice on the micro scale, an escaping from (and a resistance to) the panoptic gaze, a reconstruction of spatial relations, and a revealing of the problems in the urban space and the difficult situations of being.
