摘要
在国内外许多文学作品中,都蕴含着大量的法律事件、法律知识和法律思想。英国著名作家托马斯·哈代的小说《卡斯特桥市长》描写了大量的法律知识和法律现象,展示了婚姻、个人破产、酒类许可与管制等众多方面的法律思想。本文从法律的角度解读小说《卡斯特桥市长》,对小说中提及的法律事件进行了剖析,从而勾勒出了19世纪维多利亚时期英国所特有的法律制度和法律观念。
There exist numerous legal events, legal knowledge and legal ideas in many literary works both home and abroad. The Mayor of Casterbridge, masterpiece of British renowned writer Thomas Hardy of Britain, depicts lots of legal knowledge and phenomena, illustrating such legal ideas as marriage, personal bankruptcy and alcohol licensing and regulation, and so on so forth. This paper, from the legal perspective, analyzes the novel of The Mayor of Casterbridge, dissecting the legal events in the novel, thus drawing the outline of the legal system and legal concepts proper to Britain in the Victorian period in the 19th century.
