下一代战车是美国陆军现代化优先事项之一。美国陆军坦克机动车辆研发与工程中心在全军发起轻型战车科技运动,明确连接、成形等先进制造技术是实现战车轻量化的重要途径,美国陆军通过制造技术规划、小企业创新研究/技术转移计划等投资多项战车轻量化制造技术项目,开展搅拌摩擦焊、热源辅助搅拌摩擦焊、搅拌摩擦刻划、搅拌摩擦燕尾榫接、整体锻造等多项工艺创新研究,对推动新型轻质材料在战车中的应用、实现作战平台轻量化发挥重要作用。
The next generation combat vehicle is one of the army's modernization priorities. The US Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center has launched the lightweight combat vehicle science and technology campaign in the army. After defining that advanced manufacturing technologies such as Joining & Forming are important ways to achieve lightweight combat vehicles, the army has invested in a number of lightweight manufacturing technology projects by Army ManTech program, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, to investigate friction stir welding and thermal friction stir welding, friction stir scribe, friction stir dovetailing, forging etc. These technologies have played an important role in promoting the application of new lightweight materials in combat vehicles and realizing lightweight combat platforms.
