The SNAP-25 protein encoded by Synaptosomal-associated protein 25kDa gene (SNAP-25 gene) is a soluble N-ethylmaleimide sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (soluble) as an important component of the NSF accessory protein receptor (SNARE) complex, which is the core of synaptic vesicle exocytosis,is involved in the recruitment, docking, membrane fusion and recycling of vesicles in the presynaptic membrane of neurons. The SNAP-25 protein level imbalance not only affects the development of nerves, but also affects the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and glutamate, and then participates in the occurrence and development of schizophrenia.
