摘要
英国艺术电影由于在剧本创作、影像语言等方面缺乏持续的创新而备受诟病,然而,英国"新浪潮"电影的出现以及"厨房水槽"现实主义创作手法美学风格的形成却打破了人们对英国艺术电影的刻板印象。英国新浪潮电影以改编轰动一时的戏剧或文学名著而著称,它们在展示工人阶级的原生态生活时,以一种简约的电影风格真实客观地呈现了英伦三岛独特的生活习俗,并体现出一种典型的"民族性"特质。然而,不可否认的是,英国新浪潮电影也存在着诸多缺憾,导演们在"同性恋恐惧症"的阴影下喋喋不休地探讨着白人异性恋男人的身份问题,并毫无顾忌地将女性群体、同性恋群体以及有色人种等少数族群的身份问题刻板化与模式化。
British art cinema has been criticized for its lacking of innovation in script writing and film language and yet the emergence of British New Wave films and the “Kitchen-Sink” realistic style broke the stereotypes that people held for British art films. British New Wave films were renowned for the adaptation of sensational drama or literary masterpieces and represented the unique lifestyle of British Isles realistically with a sketchy film style by revealing the original life of the working class and displaying a typical “nationality”. Meanwhile, it cannot deny there exist many defects in the films of British New Wave, for instance, directors explored the identities of white heterosexual males ceaselessly under the shadow of “homophobia” and they also stereotyped groups of females, homosexuals and the colored minorities recklessly.
