Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an acquired autoimmune hemorrhagic disease characterized by an immune intolerance of the patients to autologous antigens leading to increased immune-mediated platelet destruction and insufficient production. In recent years, studies have found that the number and/or function of immunosuppressive cell subsets, such as regulatory T cells (Treg) and regulatory B cells (Breg) play an important role in the development of ITP. To elucidate the relationship between Treg, Breg and ITP is expected to provide new ideas for ITP therapy. The article reviews the immune regulation mechanisms of Treg and Breg, as well as their roles in the pathogenesis of ITP.
