摘要
在本论文中我预计会囊括海峡两岸暨香港的电影,不过会更多专注于香港及内地的影片。同时,我也会展示多年以来,纽约市作为一个引进外语影片的枢纽是如何将这些影片带入美国市场的。我将通过几波抵达了纽约,尤其是参加了纽约电影节的中国影片的潮流来展示中国形象的建构,并展示围绕这些影片的话语论述,以及中国电影研究是如何伴随着纽约电影节开展起来的。
Before Chinese film studies there had to be Chinese film;that is to say,enough people had to be exposed to Chinese cinema both as potential scholars and as an audience for such scholarship.The situation with China is a bit more complicated if we allow the three Chinas-PRC,Hong Kong and Taiwan-to occupy our attention.In this essay I intend to highlight the cinemas of all three Chinas,though concentrating more heavily on Hong Kong and the PRC.And I intend to demonstrate the way in which New York City,as it has done for many years,acts as a gateway for foreign cinemas into the US.I will demonstrate the constructions of"China"in a number of waves of Chinese films that came into New York,especially the New York Film Festival,and show the discourse surrounding these films and the way in which Chinese film studies grew up in the shadow of the NYFF.
