摘要
英国作家多丽丝·莱辛和约翰·福尔斯分别在其盛名之作《裂缝》和《法国中尉的女人》中表达了对两性和谐成长的审视和关注。这两部作品都是后现代主义小说的经典代表之品,极具后现代主义小说的共同特征。《裂缝》和《法国中尉的女人》遵从后现代主义小说的特点:一是碎片化与不确定叙事,二是彻底的反传统。旨在探索两性和谐成长之路——重新审视两性地位:男性不必居高临下,赢得物质的主动权,处处凌驾于女性;女性无须时时依附,实现自我经济独立和精神自由。重新定位两性关系:两性各有所长,各有所需,互相尊重,良性互存,健康发展。
English writers, Doris Lessing and John Fowles, respectively expressed their review and concern about the issue of harmonious growth of both sexes in their works “Cracks” and “The French Lieutenant’s Woman”. These two works both are classical representative works of postmodernist novels which are full of the common features of postmodernism, such as the fragmentary and uncertain narration style, and the complete anti-tradition. The works are aiming to explore a harmonious growth path for both sexes through reexamining the gender status -- Males don’t need to tower over females by taking the initiative in handling most property, and females don’t need to attach themselves to males all the time by achieving economic independence and spiritual freedom, and through redefining the sexual relations -- Both genders have their own superiority and own needs. They need mutual respect, benign coexistence, and healthy development.
