The objective of this study was to compare the intervention effect of High-intensity Interval Training(HIIT)and Moderate-intensity Continuous Training(MICT)in overweight and obese Chinese adults.Randomly controlled studies before May 2017 were retrieved by using keywords in electric database.Data after the strict quality evaluation and Review Manager 5.3 software for merging effect size included that 13 papers,214 participants in HIIT group and 208 participants in MICT group.Meta-analysis showed that HIIT was better at lowering the body fat percentage [ WMD=-1.23(95% CI=-2.31,-0.15),I^2=68%],and at improving the VO2max level [ WMD=1.02(95% CI=0.14,1.90,I^2=0%] in overweight/obese patients. But there were no significant difference in weight,BMI(Body mass index,LBM(Lean Body Mass),waist circumference(WC),hip circumference(HC)and WHR(Waist-to-Hip Ratio)between two type approaches. It could be seen that an average 10.5 weeks×3 sessions per week HIIT had more effectiveness in lowering the body fat percentage and improving the VO2max level, but the similar picture was obtained in other body measurements.
