In the large-scale urbanization development progress,DMSP/OLS night light data could reflect the real situation of the urbanization development. This paper takes Henan Province as study region and extracts the night light image data and space information in Henan from 1992 to 2012 with dynamic threshold method. The following indexes would be used to study the status quo of spatial pattern and the process of urban expansion of all cities in Henan, including average lighting brightness, the average light brightness growth rate, the normalized total radiation value, the total light intensity, and the coordinate, offset distance, migration speed for urban center of gravity, etc. The result showed that the urbanization level of Henan from 1992 to 2012 improved and the area growth rate of small scale urban built-up area was larger than big and medium city. The urbanization speed of central north plain area was faster while the urban development of the cities covered by western and southern mountains was slower.Hence, there was outer expansion of city cluster centered with Zhengzhou and a crossroad urban chain along Beijing-Guangzhou railway and Lianyungang-Lanzhou railway would be formed with south-north and east-west.The mobility of centers of all cities would be in the form of northern city moving to south and southern city moving to the north and they came aggregate to Zhengzhou.
