The UK squatter movement was the result of comprehensive factors such as the post-war economic stagnation, housing policy reform and popularity of subculture,in which the housing policy reform was the main reason. The squatter movement underwent the process from the beginning of the post-war period to the climax of the 1960 s and 1970 s,in which along with the homeless for the material interests, the anarchists, young hippies, and even the social elites joined in the movement and paid more attention to discovering the problems in the process of Western social modernization. With the development and change of the era,the goal and form of squatter movement were more diversified. The people’s attitude to the movement gradually showed the characteristic of polarization because of the advantages and disadvantages of influence.
