摘要
石黑一雄在《被掩埋的巨人》里从国家、友情和亲情等层面探究了真相与危机的内在关联,展现了个人、民族和历史之间的复杂关系。他从国民的愚钝化、欲盖弥彰的荒谬性和国家凝聚力的沦丧等方面展现了统治者掩盖历史真相的社会危机,从信念、利用和欺骗等角度探析了动机真相与友情危机的内在关联,从夫妻关系、父母与子女关系,揭示情爱的局限性和亲情的脆弱性,探究揭示真相对亲情的重要影响。其虚幻的叙事手法使一股伤感、悲观、宿命、无奈的情绪贯穿于小说全文,揭示了人类在文明发展过程中所面临或经历的窘境。
In The Buried Giant,Kazuo Ishiguro investigates the correlation between truth and crisis from the aspects of nation,friendship and family members to demonstrate the interactions among individuals,nation and history.From the inclined stupidity of villagers,ludicrous concealment of truth and the loss of national cohesion,he presents the social crisis resulting from a ruler’s covering of historical facts.He discusses the internal relations between the motivational truth and crisis in friendship from the angles of conviction,utilization and fraud,and probes into the important impact of truth on family members by disclosing the limitations of love and the fragility of familial relations from the study of conjugal relations and parent-son relations.The fantastic ways adopted by the author enable a sense of sadness,pessimism,determination and helplessness to dominate the whole novel,unveiling the dilemma experienced in the progress of human civilization.
