摘要
在纪念海明威百年诞辰之际 ,笔者重读海明威重要代表作之一《永别了 ,武器》。通过仔细品味此小说 192 9年初版封面上颇具匠心的图案设计 ,有双重含义的英文标题 ,它所产生的时代背景及它的主要情节 ,笔者认为海明威的此篇小说想表达的含义为主人公亨利不仅告别了武器和战争 ,同时由于这场罪恶的战争和这残酷的世界使他告别了美好的爱情。小说控诉了第一次世界大战的残酷和荒谬 ,追根溯源地探索了“迷惘的一代”
At the centenary of Heminway's birth I read again one of Hemingway's important works, A Farewell to Arms .Appreciating attentively its first edition in 1929,from its delicate picture on the cover,its double meaning title,its background and its main plots,The author has a better understanding of what Hemingway wanted to express.That is:Henry,the hero in the novel,said farewell not only to arms and wars but also to his sweet love because of the evil war and the cruel world.The novel accused the cruelty and absurdity of the First World War and traced deeply into how the “Lost Generation” was hurt and why they lost confidence for the future in the war.
