摘要
在编制海南岛及其邻近地区地震构造图的基础上 ,利用数盒子法计算了海南岛的活动断裂的分形维数 ,并从分形理论的角度讨论了活动断裂和地震活动性之间的关系 ,认为活动断裂的分形维数和地震活动性的分形维数是相等的。从活动断裂的分形维数和地震活动性的分形维数的一致性来看 ,区域性的地震活动可能受到该地区活动断裂空间分布的制约和作用。
Fractal theory is an effective approach to describing geometrical shapes with self-similarity structure as faults.The statistical fractal dimension of the main faults in a given region reflects the characteristic of the spatial distribution and perhaps,to some extent,the geometrical shape of the fault system in this region.In this paper,we calculate the fractal dimension of the active faults in Hainan Island in exponential format,and get a rational result.On the basis of this result,we discuss further the relationship between active faults and seismicity of the region in the light of fractal theory.We find that the fractal dimension of active faults is just the same with that of seismicity in this region.We may assume,therefore,that the seismicity of a given region might be constrained and affected by the spatial distribution of the active faults in this region.The scale of b-value of earthquakes in a given region must be relevant to the spatial distribution of the active faults in that region,and may reflect its complexity.The larger the b-valueis,the more complex the spatial distribution of the active faults in the region will be.
