This article interprets the value of health communication in the medical documentary 'Life Matters' from the perspective of framing theory. The narrative of 'Life Matters' eliminates the discourse framework of technical and economic rationality, which embeds the life story into the real doctor-patient relationship. It leads the audience to the conclusion that doctors and patients are not opponents in games but communicators, negotiators, and helps based on the issue of life and death. From the perspective of the value of health communication, this documentary has three dominating functions. It constructs the harmonious doctor-patient relationship, guides people to letting go of life and death, and educates the public to pay attention to health issues from multiple perspectives.Besides, it appeals to the media to undertake the social responsibility of health communication, uphold the concept of equal emphasis on health promoting and health care, and build the regional health communication brand according to the local conditions.
