摘要
康熙时期的宫廷西洋传教士时常为在华天主教事宜陈情言事。鉴于朝廷处理公务有固定的文书和流程,西洋传教士作为一个特殊的群体,如何上疏言事是一个值得深思的问题。本文结合中西文献,考察1692年西洋传教士上疏请旨容教的过程,并认为,西洋教士上疏言事因循朝廷已有规定和程序,偶有违例。康熙朝传教士重视上奏权,这与皇帝处理政务的习惯以及对传教士的态度有关,也是西洋人争取任职钦天监的一个重要原因。
European missionaries in the imperial Court of Emperor Kangxi often memorialized for the sake of Christianity in China. How could possibly the missionaries as foreigners managed to submit their petitions through the bureaucratic system is a problem worth pondering. This article investigated into materials dealing with the missionaries' appeal for toleration of Christianity in 1692. It is concluded that in most occasions they followed the existing procedure while violated it in certain times. The missionaries attached great importance to the power of memorializing, which was closely related to the Emperor's way to hand different affairs and his attitude towards the missionaries themselves. As a matter of fact, to obtain the power of memorializing was one of the reasons why the missionaries served in the Bureau of Astronomy.
