摘要
科学和宗教的纷争由来已久,科学的本质使其不允许对唯物主义不可理解的事物进行科学的研究,而宗教已成为人类历史发展进程中不可回避的因素,二者的相互拒斥使得双方都有陷入唯我独尊的窘境。在怀特海看来,科学和宗教分别关注的是事实世界和价值世界,二者冲突的根源在于双方企图用各自偏执的理智来否认对方的真理,而克服对立的方法就是将两者融合在一种强调普遍原理的形而上学之中。怀特海的过程哲学对科学和宗教关系的理论审思不仅使双方的和解以及人的价值世界的重构成为现实的可能,更对现代人类文明的健康发展有着重要的理论和现实意义。
The dispute between science and religion has a long history. The essence of science makes it not allowed to carry out scientific research on things that are not understandable,and the religion has become an unavoidable factor in the development of human history. The mutual rejection of the two makes both sides fall into the dilemma. In Whitehead＇s view,science and religion are concerned with the world of fact and the world of value respectively. The root of the two parties＇ conflict is that both sides attempt to deny each other＇s truth with their own paranoid reason,and the way to overcome the opposition is to integrate them into a form that emphasizes universal principles. The theoretical reflection of Whitehead＇s process philosophy on the relationship between science and religion not only makes the reconciliation between the two sides and the reconstruction of the human value world a reality,but also has important theoretical and practical significance to the healthy development of modern human civilization.
