This paper attempts to apply diaspora to Song Deli's translation of Strange Tales from of a Lonely Studio, his first Chinese-English translation after his immigration to America. The poetry for Mother in the preface suggests the loneliness of those Chinese im- migrants and indicates that the translation is an acting of writing the homesickness. Such loneliness has been presented by the definite of space in the stories and the sense of intru- sion has been well defended by their moralities to daily life. However, interpellation of the translator by practice of discourse has caused the domestication in literary norms and cultural images. In summary, the connection and alienation between the diasporic translator and Chinese culture attests to the fact that the translation can never avoid the hybridity of different cultures.
