Shell's natural gas business has gone through its development strategy from a future opportunity to a growth priority, then to a cash engine. The adjustment process has several outstanding features including globalization of natural gas industry chain layout; the obvious advantages of gas integration; the year-on-year revenue's growth of natural gas business; increasing strength of optimization for LNG assets; the large LNG fleet providing transportation support; and the combination of contracts with early-and late-duration for adopting differential complementary strategies. After the BG acquisition, the reserve assets, natural gas production, LNG liquefaction capacity and trade delivery capacity of Shell have all been greatly increased, and its industrial chain is more complete, and the global layout is much better. Shell's long-term strategic vision, and the practice of optimizing asset portfolio by making full use of capital market and highly valuing integrated management are worth learning.
