Objective To investigate the influence of vertigo on the prognosis of deafness(fall flat and total deafness). Methods Clinical data of 147 patients with sudden deafness(fall flat and total deafness) were analyzed retrospectively.According to whether accompanied by vertigo, subjects were divided into two groups-accompanied by vertigo and without vertigo group, the total effective rate and cure rate were compared between the two groups after treatment. Results The total deafness(51.69%) of the patients in this group was higher than that in the flat(22.41%) patients. The total effective rate(53.85% and 55.56%) and the recovery rate(15.38% and 33.33%) of fall flat deafness were not statistically significant(P〉0.05). The total effective rate(26.09% and 65.12%) and the recovery rate(2.17% and 23.26%) of total deafness were statistically significant(P〈0.05).Conclusion The incidence of vertigo in patients with sudden deafness(total deafness) is high and the prognosis is poor, and the vertigo can be an important factor in the evaluation of efficacy.
