文革"结束之后,巴金作为赫尔岑《往事与随想》的译者复出,通过对它的介绍对"文革"展开反思。巴金对赫尔岑的选择和解释,实际上是他的文学生命、20世纪中国历史与"后文革"语境三者交织的产物。巴金试图通过对赫尔岑的译介,来调用他无政府主义中重视个体和伦理的批判性因素,然而,当他的解释被导入"反封建"的话语通道时,这种批判即面临着普泛化和失效的危险,其思想和文学能量也就被封闭在这个局促的空间之中。将这项译介视为发生在复杂语境中的事件,可以为理解"后文革"时代与历史经验的关联,翻译文学与本土语境的关联,以及文学与政治的关联提供个案和路径。
After the Cultural Revolution, Ba Jin "came back" as the translator of Alexan- der Herzen's My Past and Thoughts, and used his translation to express his reflections on the Cultural Revolution. Ba Jin's appreciation and translation of Herzen, was a result of the engagement of his own literary life, modem China and the Post-Cultural Revolution context. Through his translation, Ba Jin tried to transfer his anarchism on individual and ethics to the critique on the Cultural Revolution, however, this critique became invalid while he introduced Herzen into the "anti-feudalism" discourse, which was mainly exhaus- ted and universalized by the official historiography of modem China.
