It analyzes the practicability and aesthetic feeling of Meiping and Yuhuchun vases, the symbolic wares in the Song and Yuan dynasties. Adhering to both the commercial culture of Song and Confucianism, it is based on dual attestation and iconography by providing with supportive historical documents and images of cultural relics to make comparisons. The far-reaching influence of cherishing things in ancient China, i.e., valuing resources and make the best use of everything, had been demonstrated in the creation process during the Song and Yuan dynasties, which transformed Meiping and Yuhuchun vases from original wine packages into wine vessels and then into furnishings, a combination of aesthetics and functionality.
