许美德是国际比较教育界著名学者,加拿大多伦多大学安大略教育研究院教授。许美德常用的比较教育研究方法是理想类型、叙事研究和案例研究,这尤其表现为她对中外高等教育比较所构建的理想类型框架,对中国知名教育家所进行的叙事研究,以及对中国大众化高等教育所进行的案例研究。描述和理解许美德的比较教育研究方法和思路,有助于我们从方法的路径更好地理解当代比较教育的发展。
Professor Ruth Hayhoe is a well-known scholar in the field of international comparative education, and a professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto in Canada. Comparative education research methods typically used by Ruth Hayhoe are the ideal types, narrative studies and case studies, which are represented by her framework of ideal type of comparison between Chinese and foreign higher education, narrative study in Chinese well-known educators, and case study of Chinese mass higher education. It is of great significance to better understand the development of contemporary comparative education from the perspective of her research methods.
