对于老哈尔滨人来说,圣尼古拉东正教堂是这座城市的地标性建筑,它曾赋予了哈尔滨的城市历史以生动的立体感、画面感。它的建立、拆毁、直到今天激烈争论的是否重建,这一现象非常耐人寻味,也在一个侧面折射出哈尔滨这座城市的文化变迁。在百年哈尔滨的发展史上,圣尼古拉教堂见证了诸多历史事件,是多种文化符号的集合。如果对其某一维度过分强调,都会遗忘其整体上的巨大影响力。人们试图重建的不仅是一座过去的老建筑,而且是一种现代哈尔滨人的精神和气度、勇气与智慧。
For most Harbin citizens,St. Nicolas Church,an Orthodox church,is a landmark which makes a cubic and vivid picture and sense of history for Harbin. Whether it should be built,demolished,or rebuilt is still controversial. This also reflects the cultural change of this city. St. Nicolas Church saw many historical events during the hundreds years of development of Harbin,which is the collection of multiple cultural signs. No matter which side is over-emphasized,the overall influence would be ignored. What is rebuilt is not just an old architecture but modern people's spirit,bearing,courage,and wisdom.
