The third investigation on the Road of Jade and Silk is a study on the geographical routesaround China's fourth largest desert—the Tengger Desert. In the present desert areas there had been an ancientpath connecting the Hexi Corridor, Helan Mountain, and Hetao Region of the Yellow River all the time beforethe modern times. And the so-called ship of the desert—the camel team had been always walking on the an-cient path. And thus the camel culture in Alashan Region has always played an important role in constructingthe traffic history of the Central Plains and the Western Regions. The Mongolian word "Tengger" means "heav-en", and under the influence of the mythic imagination from the Central Plains culture, the ancient path of theTengger Desert constructed the magic contexts like "Western Paradise" and "Journey to the Heaven".
