摘要
在世界文学史上,中国文学和英国文学分别代表了东西方两大文化传统中最优秀的文学。由于英语在全世界文化和人文学术交流中的强势地位,英国文学也是中国的外国文学学科国别文学研究中最重要的一个学科领域。但是不难发现,中国读者对英国文学的了解要大大多于英国读者对中国文学的了解。英国文学史上所有重要的作家,甚至不少二流作家的作品都有中文译本,而相比之下,一些一流的古今中国文学作品却没有完整的英译本。在实施中国文化和文学走向世界的战略时应将重点转向这方面的译介和传播,以改变这种相对单向度的文学交流。
In the history of world literature, Chinese and British literatures each represent the best literature of the Eastern and Western cultural traditions. Due to the hegemonic position of English in international cultural and humanities exchange, British literature is the most important research field in China’s foreign literature studies. But in translation and comparative studies of Chinese and British literatures, we find that Chinese readers know much more about British literature than British readers know about Chinese literature. All the important authors in the history of British literature, even quite a few second-class authors, have their works available in Chinese. In contrast, some of the first-class Chinese literary works have not yet been translated into English in their complete form. In carrying out the strategy of promoting Chinese literature and culture in the world, we should focus on this aspect so as to change the present one-directional literary exchange.
