原住民在加拿大北部地区广泛分布,是加拿大北部地区的主要人口。当前,随着气候变暖和北极开发,原住民的社会经济发展面临诸多问题。这些问题严重地影响了原住民的生活,成为原住民急需应对的迫切挑战。加拿大联邦政府高度重视北部地区的社会经济发展困境,在北极政策中把处理北方地区的社会经济危机、保护原住民的利益放在了极为重要的位置上。与此同时,原住民自身也积极通过各种方式影响联邦政府的北极政策选择,表达自己的利益诉求。在这些因素的综合作用下,加拿大联邦政府出于对北极社会经济发展的长远考虑,未来将采取谨慎的以"环境保护"为核心的北极原住民政策。
Indigenous people are the main population of northern Canada, and widely distributed in northern Canada. At present, indigenous people are facing many problems in the social and economic development with the warming of the climate and the development of the Arctic, which has affected seriously the lives of indigenous peoples. Those problems have become urgent challenges for indigenous people to cope with. The Canadian federal government attaches great importance to those plights of social and economic development in its northern regions. In the Canadian federal Arctic policy, dealing with the social and economic problems of the northern regions and protecting the interests of the indigenous people is of vital importance. At the same time, the indigenous themselves also actively influence the federal government's Arctic policy in various ways and express their own interests. It is under the combined influence of these factors that the Canadian federal government takes environmental protection policy as its core due to the long-term consideration of the social and economic development of the Arctic.
