西方文化背景使西方人对宗教有一种强烈的期待,同时现代社会使人们对宗教又有一种强烈的质疑。斯蒂芬·金的《迷雾惊魂》含有大量宗教元素,建立在宗教话语之上的宗教意象和宗教场景是小说的一大特色。通过对主人公大卫·德莱顿的梦境分析,解码"走在云间的上帝"形象,揭示潜藏在文本中的梦境隐喻,进而深入探索作家的宗教意识:信仰上帝和质疑上帝的两个自我在矛盾交锋,这个信仰与质疑的悖论凸显了斯蒂芬·金深陷宗教困顿之中。
The Western cultural background makes Westerners show strong religious expectations and meanwhile the modern society makes people have strong doubts about the religion.Stephen King's ' The Mist' contains many religious elements,and the religious images and scenes built on religious concepts are characteristic of the novella.Through analyzing the protagonist David Drayton's dreams,this paper decodes the image of ' God in a Cloud' to reveal the dream metaphors so as to explore Stephen King's religious consciousness:the two selves,the one believing in God and the one doubting God,contradict each other.The paradox manifests that Stephen King is deep in plight of the religion.
