Aleksander Sokurov' s movie The Louvre under German Occupation tells about the destiny of the art works in the Louvre during World War II, but the Louvre depicted in the movie is more like the mirror image of Russia. It is an elegy sung by the producer of the movie: en elegy sung by traditional Russian intellectuals for the old Europe. The movie, through thinking over the relationship between "art works and power" , expresses the producer' s profound worries about the crises encountered by humanism in the contemporary world and profound thoughts about the ideals of European Community from the perspective of a Russian intellectual, and exerts many interesting collision of ideas with European Union and with Russian "current text".
