摘要
苔丝和海斯特分别是《德伯家的苔丝》和《红字》中的女主人公。她们都是父权制社会下的女性代表。本文旨在从父权制视角出发,从两位女主人公对待同一问题的不同态度和方式,对其爱情悲剧成因作对比分析,并从中得出她们对待爱情的不同态度、不同方式所产生的不同结局。
Tess and Hester are the protagonists in Tess of the D＇Urbervilles and The Scarlet Letter. They are the female representatives under patriarchal society. This paper aims to compare the causes of the two females＇ love tragedies by analysis on the two protagonists＇ at- titudes and behaviors towards same tragic love dilemma from the perspective of patriarchy. In this way, it can conclude that different atti- tudes and ways will bring different endings.
