摘要
目前,国内对于"军医大学""师范大学"和"体育学院"等专门院校的校名英译规范化和标准化的讨论基本已达成一致意见。而"民族院校"的英译名却仍然较为混乱,存在难以回译、词语新造和用词偏颇等的问题。为消除误解规范其校名翻译,从国内名"民族院校"官网搜集全部专门民族院校英译名,借助翻译原则,提供规范的译名建议"民族大学"译为"地名+Nationality+University";"民族师范学院"译为"Normal University of+地名+Nationality";"民族职业(技术)学院"译为"Technical College of+地名+Nationality"。
At present,there is an agreement about the regulation and standardization for English translations of＂military medical university＂,＂normal university＂,＂sports institute＂and other specialized institute or university. However,the English translations of ＂nationality university＂in China share some common problems,such as back-translation difficulty,new word creation,usage mistakes of words,which generates the ambiguity for foreign people. In order to eliminate the misunderstanding and normalize the English translations,this paper collects all English translations of＂Minzu Yuanxiao＂from their official websites and tries to provide some suitable English translations in terms of some translation principles. This paper strongly recommends that ＂Minzu Daxue＂is translated into ＂place name ＋ Nationality University＂,and＂Minzu Shifan Xueyuan＂is translated into＂Normal University of ＋ placename ＋ Nationality＂,and＂Minzu Zhiye Jishu Xueyuan＂is translated into ＂Technical College of ＋ place name ＋ Nationality＂.
