A flag-raising ceremony marking the opening of China’s first overseas logistical base was held in Djibouti on August 1,the same day as the 90th founding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army.As a hub for Chinese vessels to resupply and recuperate,the base will also contribute to anti-piracy missions,peacekeeping and humanitarian rescues in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off Somalia.
