摘要
依据作者受约为《中国大百科全书》第3版撰写的词条改写而成,将《理论生物学》的科学内容分成7个部分,进行百科全书式的简约论述.文末对我校理论生物学研究作了回顾和展望,简短总结了最近三方面的工作:生物大分子构象变化的量子理论,基因组进化的量子理论和生物系统的信息增益和能量耗散的关系.
After reviewing the definition of theoretical biology (also called mathematical and theoretical biology,or theoretical biophysics in China), several fundamental problems in this scientific research field are summarized and discussed briefly,namely, 1. the electronic motion and conformational change of biological macromolecules;2, life as an informational system and the hereditary and evolutionary laws of a genome;3, the dynamical and statistical-thermodynamical studies of the biological self-organization;4, the studies on the mechanical and physical properties of the biological condensed matters;5, the theoretical simulation of physiological activities;6, ecosystem and the population genetics and population dynamics ; and 7. several theoretical problems on the origin of life and its early evolution. Finally, our recent projects on theoretical biology-the quantum theory of conformation change, the quantum theory of genome evolution and the relation between information gain and energy dissipation-are reviewed. The paper is prepared for the entry of "theoretical biology" which will be published in the third edition of China Encyclopedia ,Biology.
