Since 1980s, translation researchers have proposed the concept of interdisciplinarity or multidisci- plianrity from translation disciplinary perspective. This paper starts with the denotation and mechanism of trans-lation ,introduces the conception of translation as the action and process of semiotic transformation, and ex-pounds the situation of translation perse and translation studies through history. It points out that today's in-terdisciplinarity is both the fate and the paradox of translation studies. The paper reveals that the interdiscipli-nary approaches are the shared means human beings take to know and explore the real world , that translating, translation and translation versions are sign-activity semiosis the form and content of text-signs respectively and that translation studies are human being’s exploration into themselves and the objective textual world, with its translation texts imprinted with interdisciplinarity. Translation studies , in nature, contain such univer-sal properties.
