Objective To investigate influence by acupuncture physiotherapy on pain degree and quality of life in protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc patients. Methods A total of 124 patients with protrusion of lumbar intervertehral disc were divided by random number table into observation group and control group, with 62 cases in each group. The control group received rehabilitation training, and the observation group received additional acupuncture physiotherapy to treatment in the control group. Observation was made on changes in pain degree and quality of life after treatment between the two groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference of visual analogue scale (VAS) score before treatment between the two groups (t=0.646, P〉0.05). The observation group had obviously lower VAS score after treatment than the control group, and their difference had statistical significance (t=9.474, P〈0.05). Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference of dimension scores in quality of life between the two groups (P〉0.05). After treatment, both groups had higher dimension scores in quality of life than those before treatment, and the observation group had all higher dimension scores in quality of life than the control group. Their difference had statistical significance (P〈O.05). Conclusion Implement of acupuncture physiotherapy in treating protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc shows satisfactory effect. It can effectively relieve symptoms and improve quality of life. This method is worth clinical promotion.
