摘要
创办于1897年10月的时务学堂是中国第一所近代意义上的高等学校,它推动了湖南教育由传统向近代的转型,在中国教育近代化的历程中意义非凡。虽然时务学堂在历史上仅存在不到一年时间,但其对后世的影响却不可小觑。梳理和归纳学界对时务学堂的研究,旨在重温那一段激动人心的历史,同时亦希望能对当下的进一步研究提供参考借鉴。
Shiwu Academy which was set up in October 1897 is the first institution of higher education in modem China. It makes Hu-nan＇s education shift from traditional into modem. Though Shiwu Academy just lasts a year, it has a profound influence on modem his-tory. This paper makes a brief summary of the study on Changsha Shiwu Academy. It aims to review the special history again and also puts forward some advices on future reseeirch.
