Francis Scott Ki Fitzgerald is the outstanding novelist and poet laureate of ＂Lost Generation＂ in the Great Depression of the United States. Fitzgerald＇s life experience and emotional life laid a solid foundation for a representative ＂the Great Gatsby＂ which publicated in 1925. The protagonist Gatsby＇s struggles, the ups and downs of emotional life, dream and the pursuit of money, love and the pursuit of Daisy reflected from one aspect of American society which were parts of lost youth values and outlook on life. Pursuiting American dream and disillusionment of Gatsby in the short life arethe true reflection of people＇s tmeasiness and unrest in the American society at that time.
