The paper analyzes and investigates the property of "contract," its background and the concept of nation in Michikusa, written by Natsume SSseki. This illustrates the relationship between "contract" in Michikusa and "Li Hongzhang' s calligraphy." The paper concludes that "Li Hongzhang' s calligraphy" in Michikusa is not a pure writing concept, but implies Li Hongzhang' s "treaty calligraphy," which reflects the writer' s consistent concept of nation, for the sake of arousing national moral and justice principles. Previous studies indicated that Michikusa is not only the biography of the author himself, but also the diary of his family, expressing the writer' s recognition of humanity and understanding of survival. Its main theme reflects the age in which it was written.
