摘要
荀子常见的两个称呼是荀卿和孙卿,传统避讳说认为汉人为避汉宣帝刘询讳故改荀为孙。清代以来,对此说提出质疑并产生3种新观点,一是认为荀、孙是单纯的音同通用关系,二是认为荀、孙都是姓氏,战国之后混用,三是认为荀子本姓孙,荀是司马迁据其乡音所改。此3种说法都有其困难和偏颇处。通过研究荀卿、孙卿两个称呼在汉人文献中的使用情况,发现荀子本称荀卿,是刘向校书时为避讳改为孙卿,东汉初的学者多袭用此称,东汉中后期学者又自觉改孙卿为荀卿。最后考察了荀子名字的卿、况二字,认为并不是一为名一为字,而只是音近通用关系。
Xun Qing and Sun Qing are two addresses of XunZi. The traditional view is that Sun was used instead of Xun in order to avoid the name of Hanxuandi Liu Xuno From Qing Dynasty, three new views arose against that, the first holds Xun and Sun is only the same announce for mutual use, the second, they are both first name which confused in Zhanguo dynasty, the last, Sun was the real first name, and Xun was modified by Sima Qian according to his accent. These views all have difficulty. Through investigating the use of Xun Qing and Sun Qing in the material of Han dynasty, we find Xun Qing was the real name of Xun Zi, Sun Qing was revised by Liu Xiang when he collated books, and was inherited by the latter scholars. After middle and later period of Donghan Dynasty, scholars revised Sun Qing into Xun Qing again. At last, we investigate the two name ,Qing and Kuang, and find the two characters have the nearly same pronunciation, so they can be mutually used.
