Microcapsules materials is a kind of new functional material, which is a key areas of materials science research and technical application. The synthesis methods of microcapsules and their applications were introduced. The application of phase change materials for energy storage and microcapsules materials has gotten the increasingly attention in energy saving areas. The classification and operating principles of phase change materials, the current research and application and the development trend were summarized.
