In the American classic drama Death of A Salesman, Arthur Miller successfully created a low man Willy Loman strugglingbetween ideal and reality. By using the effect of the Besieged Fortress proposed by Qian Zhongshu in his novel Fortress Besieged toanalyze Willy's tragedy, it can be seen that Willy who is influenced by Jewish culture is a marginalized man wandering outside thefortress of America's mainstream culture; Willy hopes to win a place of himself in business competition against his nature but getsnothing but failure and is expelled from his illusionary American Dream; Willy is stubbornly obsessed with the realization of AmericanDream ignoring his family's love, and thus is deeply sunk into loneliness and depression without any hope to be saved.
