In the 1970s, the revolution of global shipping industry resulted in a large number of shallow harbors were abandoned. Labor left away from industry around harbors, leading to a gradual decline of docklands. In response to it, the Waterfront Communities Project set up in the European North Sea regions, aiming to do research on the revival of old harbor districts. This essay takes three typical old harbors in the European North Sea regions - Oslo, Norway, Germany, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Denmark, as research objects, discussing their background and motivation on old harbor district revitalization, and expounds their revitalization strategies from four parts: function, transportation, public space, and architecture. In the end, it can be regarded as experiences for old harbor district revitalization in our state.
