Fieldwork is a landmark research method of anthropology. It requires the researcher to present the research object in the real situation and to reveal the inherent mechanism of the research object through the long term and intensive observation and interview, and on the basis of this to prepare for the extraction of new concept and the construction of new theory. In the related fields of public security studies, relevant researchers can reveal the practice of public security work in the real world by using the method of fieldwork, investigate the logic of public security and the internal mechanism of the relations among the subjects of public security behavior from multiple dimensions in order to present fully the real process of the practice of public security work. Not only the refer- ence of anthropological research method in relevant research themes of public security studies is helpful to activate methodological awareness of the related researchers, but it is also beneficial for the improvement of theoretical construction ability in the researches concerned. Here, we put forward and discuss the possibility and significance of the cross-disciplinary intersection between anthropology and public security studies. This is a new field for the colleagues of public security studies to develop and extend jointly. Attentions of future research themes should be paid to the basic category and research topic of the anthropology of public security.
