摘要
术语"Actuary"于1775年出现于英国,用于命名人寿保险公司中一种特殊而关键的职务,这种职务逐渐形成一种专门职业。鸦片战争后,上海开埠,英商"永福人寿(Standard Life Assurance Co.)"和"永年人寿(China Mutual Life Insurance Co.)"于1898年在沪上设立(分)公司,两家公司的负责人都是英国的Actuary。之后的1912年,我国民族资本设立的人寿保险公司从上海发端,开始有中国人从事Actuary工作,并在上世纪三十年代初被称为"精算师"。1936年6月,上海保险同业公会设立"寿险精算委员会",是我国第一个精算师职业团体。本文以此脉络梳理我国保险业的发展,还原我国精算师职业的真实历史和应有国际地位。
The term of Actuary first appeared in UK in 1775 ,which was used to describe a type of special and key position in life insurance companies. This position gradually developed into a profession. After the two Opium wars, Shanghai was opened up and two British life insurance companies, Standard Life Assurance Co. and China Mutual Life Insurance Co. , set up their branches in Shanghai. The managers of these two branch companies were fellows of The Faculty of Actuaries and The Institute of Actuaries. In 1912, the first Chinese-invested life insurer was set up in Shanghai and then there was the first Chinese person doing actuarial work in the company. In early 1930s,the term of Actuary was translated into Chinese ＂Jingsuanshi＂, meaning ＂Accurate Calculating Master＂. In June 1936, the Life Actuarial Committee ,the first Chinese actuarial professional organization,was formed in Shanghai Insurance Industry Association. The paper intended to comb through the thread of history of the insurance industry in China and accord China＇ s actuarial profession its due international stature.
