Stellenbosch University is a famous research-intensive institution in South Africa and also aworld-renowned university. The achievements it has made are related to its successful measures taken in thedevelopment of research capacity, which includes targeting the development of research capacity as the importantgoal in the development strategy, generating research income, establishing research focus areas, creating agood atmosphere of scientific research,and focusing on the cultivation of the research ability of postgraduates.Universities in developing countries, especially in African countries may learn from the success of StellenboschUniversity in research capacity development.
