20世纪六七十年代,美国的环境质量严重恶化。每况愈下的环境状况严重威胁着美国民众的身体健康与可持续发展的要求。"地球日"示威游行的发生有着深刻的思想基础,标志着美国民众环境意识的觉醒,同时它对联邦政府政策的制定也产生了重大影响。
In 1960s and 1970s, the American environment was increasingly worse. The worsening environment threatened the health and sustainable development demand of American mass. The ＂Earth Day＂ demonstration of 1970 had profound ideological foundation. It marked the awakening of environmental awareness of American people. Meanwhile it had great effect on the policy making of federal government.
